First Aid and Moving and Handling
As a local company offering training in first aid and health and safety related areas, our aim is to provide quality training at competitive prices using highly qualified and experienced trainers and assessors.
We are approved by the Health and Safety Executive (H.S.E.) to deliver the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work, the 3 day First Aid at Work together with the 2 day refresher. In addition we are a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (C.I.E.H.) approved centre, to deliver the Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award, and Manual Handling.
We are also approved by Suffolk County Council Early Years and Childcare Training Unit, to deliver the 2 day Paediatric First Aid qualification as required by OFSTED.

Fire Awareness training
The aim of this course is to familiarise individuals with fire safety issues in the workplace, making them aware that a responsible person should be carrying out the fire risk assessment, and work with other competent persons to assist in fire duties. The course lasts for approx 2 hours and covers the following subjects; Legislation, the role of the fire marshal, fire prevention, how to deal with fires, recognising and practical safe use of extinguishers. A certificate of Attendance is issued upon completion of the course.

Cameo is a Matrix accredited training company who specialize in qualifications for Skills for Life (Adult Maths and English), ESOL and IT.

We run learndirect centres in Felixstowe, Central Ipswich and within Ipswich and Woodbridge Jobcentres. We are also a provider for the Suffolk Stepping-stones hub and deliver tutor led on/off site English and ESOL training.

Our centres are approved by OCR, BCS and Edexcel and we are proud of our 98% success rate for Skills for Life test passes.

Services to the Brokerage
Cameo are able to offer one to one or group based ESOL training tailored to the needs of the individual as decided upon by the employer and the employee. Our CELTA 5 and PTLLS qualified tutor will carry out initial assessments using the BKSB ESOL initial assessment. This tool maps fully to the DIUS ESOL core curriculum and covers assessment in reading, writing and listening from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Cameo offers the choice of two training routes, the first based on a personal learning goal, and the second resulting in a qualification .The non accredited route (personal learning goal) can incorporate learning aims such as interpreting health and safety signs, completing time sheets, incident and accident report forms or producing concise hand over notes. The tutor will draw up individual learning plans which focus on the achievement of a goal that the employer and the employee agree is beneficial.

The qualification route focuses on raising the employee's level of literacy to a level above that already held. Following on from the BKSB initial assessment the learner will then be able to complete the diagnostic assessments to give a fuller picture of where their specific skills gaps are. We are accredited with EDEXCEL to test for ESOL for work, and ESOL at entry and level 1 and 2 (Speaking and listening, Reading, Writing). On completion of either of these routes Cameo would welcome the employee to continue their learning through our learndirect provision. They would have the opportunity to progress to level 2 in literacy and numeracy and to obtain a qualification in ICT (subject to meeting funding requirements).

We are able to offer off-site provision at either of our centres if appropriate and can arrange flexible delivery to accommodate workplace shift patterns.

West Suffolk College lies in the heart of Bury St Edmunds and provides a range of vocational and academic courses across many occupational areas throughout Suffolk and Norfolk.
