New NMDS-sc requirements for employers
Skills for Care have changed the requirements they place on employers in terms of completing the NMDS-sc information. In order to claim for training through Skills for Care’s TSI funding (which is most of the funding you can claim through the Brokerage) employers will now need to have completed individual worker records for 90% of their workers, or to update these records if they have been completed previously. This is in addition to the NMDS-sc organizational data that has previously been a requirement.
These changes have been put in place to enable vital workforce data to be collated. One reason behind the move is the requirement of Skills for Care to provide strategic bodies like the Department of Health with crucial information around workforce development. This information will enable them to evidence the impact of previous investments on the level of skills in the workforce and on the potential quality of social care provided. Also, it is essential that this information be available to support the case for further investment and this is in the interests of all employers in the sector.
If you wish to access funding through the Brokerage in 2010-11 please complete or update your information after April 2010. We cannot pay units to employers whose information is not up to date and agreed by Skills for Care.
In addition to the reasons given above for gathering this data it is also a useful resource for you! By completing your establishments NMDS-sc you have all the basic information about your workers and services in one place. This can assist you in planning business activity by enabling informed decision making.
